And – check simultaneously "positive" and "negative" gates;

The serviceable gate passes a current only in one direction. Faulty – can or not pass at all a current (chain breakage), or to pass a current in both directions (short circuit).

Short circuit of gates выпрямительного the block can be checked up, without removing the generator from the car, preliminary having disconnected wires from the storage battery and the generator. It is possible to check up an ohmmeter or by means of a lamp (1–5Вт, 12В) and the storage battery, as is shown in fig. of the Scheme of check of gates выпрямительного the block.


The prevention

For the purpose of simplification of fastening of details of the rectifier three gates have "plus" of the straightened pressure on the case. These are gates "positive" and they запрессованы in one plate выпрямительного the block. Other three gates – "negative", have on the case "minus" of the straightened pressure and запрессованы in other plate выпрямительного the block or in a generator cover.


At first check up, whether there is no short circuit simultaneously in "positive" and "negative" gates. For this purpose battery "plus" connect to a clip «30» generators, and "minus" through a lamp to the generator case (fig. of the Scheme of check of gates выпрямительного the block, a position see). If the lamp burns, any of "negative" and "positive" gates have short circuit.

Short circuit only "negative" gates can be checked up, having connected "plus" of the battery to the tip of the central conclusion of a winding статора (12 on fig. (fig. Generator G-221, this tip not marked see), and "minus" through a lamp with the generator case (fig. of the Scheme of check of gates выпрямительного the block, a position see.

Lamp burning means short circuit in one or several "negative" gates.

It is necessary to remember that in this case lamp burning can be and a consequence of short circuit of coils of a winding статора on the generator case. However such malfunction meets much less often, than short circuit of gates.

For short circuit check only in "positive" gates, battery "plus" connect to a clip «30» generators, and "minus" – through a lamp with the tip of the central conclusion of a winding статора (fig. of the Scheme of check of gates выпрямительного the block, a position see). Lamp burning will specify in short circuit of one or several "positive" gates.

Breakage in gates without generator dismantling can be found out only indirectly at generator check at the stand on considerable decrease (on 20–30 %) sizes of a given current in comparison with the nominal.

If generator windings are serviceable, and in gates there is no short circuit the reason of reduction of a given current is breakage in gates.
