8.1.3. Check and adjustment of corners of installation of forward wheels

Check and adjustment of corners of installation of forward wheels is carried out at special stands according to the instruction on the stand.
The prevention

Check of corners of installation of wheels is obligatory, if replacement or repair of details of a suspension bracket which can cause change of corners of installation of wheels are made.


At the new car (before the first maintenance service) corners of installation of wheels have following values:
 - Longitudinal angle of slope of an axis of turn – 4 1 Mm;
–1 30’
 - Disorder 0 30’ 40’ Mm;
– 30’
 – A convergence – 1/7 mm.

After carrying out of the first maintenance service (through 2000-3000 km of run) and at the further operation of the car value of corners of installation of wheels should be:

 – A longitudinal angle of slope of an axis of turn – 430 ’ (330’30 ’) *;
 – Disorder – 030’20 ’ (05’20 ’) *;
 – A convergence – 2/4 mm (3/5 mm) *.

The difference in longitudinal angles of slope of axes of turn of the right and left wheels should not exceed 030 ’.

Before adjustment of corners of installation of wheels check up:

 – Pressure of air in tyres;
 – An axial backlash in bearings of naves of forward wheels;
 – Serviceability of the shock-absorber (absence of jamming of a rod);
 – Radial and axial palpation of tyres;
 – A backlash in the top spherical hinges of a suspension bracket;
 – A steering wheel free wheeling.

The found out malfunctions eliminate and make necessary adjustments.

The control and adjustment of corners of installation of wheels can be spent both on the loaded car, and on not loaded, however the control of corners on the loaded car yields more exact results. Therefore, in responsible cases, it is recommended to carry out the control and installation of corners on the car under static loading 3136 Н (320 кгс) that corresponds approximately to weight of four persons and cargo in 40 kg in a luggage carrier.

The car is loaded or the special cargoes suspended to the bottom of a body, or a ballast (280 kg), placed on pillows of seats and in a luggage carrier (40 kg). Forward seats should be on the average position of their longitudinal course. Cargo in a luggage carrier takes places in regular intervals. Fuel shortage is compensated by the cargo which had on the right party of the area of a luggage carrier.

After car installation on the stand, directly ahead of the control of corners, a<прожмите> car suspension bracket, putting 2-3 times effort in 392-490 Н (40-50 кгс), directed from top to down, at first on a back bumper, and then on the forward. CONVERGENCE OF FORWARD WHEELS

PERFORMANCE ORDER

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. For backlash check lift a forward part of the car, обоприте it on supports and remove forward wheels.
2. Under a bolt of fastening of a wheel establish the adaptation 02.7834.9505. Rest a leg of the indicator 1 against an end face of an axis of a repeated fist, at zero position of an arrow and, moving a nave 4 along an axis of a rotary fist, measure size of moving (backlash) on the indicator (2 – a bolt; 3 – an arm).
3. If the backlash is more 0,15 mm, adjust it in a following order:
      - Turn away an adjusting nut from a pin of a rotary fist;
      - Establish new or were in the use, but on other car, a nut and tighten its moment 19,6 Нм (0,7 кгсм);

4. After adjustment the backlash in the bearing should be within 0,02–0,08 mm.

GREASING REPLACEMENT IN BEARINGS OF NAVES OF FORWARD WHEELS

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Ослабьте bolts of fastening of wheels.
2. Lift a forward part of the car and обоприте it on supports, turn away bolts and remove wheels.

5. Turn away an adjusting nut, remove a washer.

10. Adjust a backlash in nave bearings as it is described above.

BALANCING OF WHEELS
